About us
Kamchatka State University is the oldest institution of higher education in Kamchatka. It was founded by the government of Russian Federation in August, 1958. The first one hundred students entered three faculties on October, 17: the faculty of history and philology, the faculty of physics and mathematics and the faculty of primary education. The first fourteen professors taught students. Nowadays our University is a modern one, where more than three thousand students and post-graduates study. There are 5 faculties and 18 chairs at the University. Highly skilled specialists, most of them have candidate's and doctor's degrees work here.
Annualy about 400 specialists graduate from the University. They work at the establishments of education of Kamchatka peninsula and they are greatly required today. Graduates of the University are the best specialists in philology, foreign languages, psychology, history of natural sciences and computer technologies.
Today there are 24 specialities of higher professional education and 16 specialities of postgraduate education at the University. The development of post-graduate education helps the University to realize its potential. Talented young researchers have the possibility to continue their education staying in Kamchatka.
Internet-center and Center of distant education are at the disposal of students and teachers. There are also scientific laboratories, such as the laboratory of new information technologies, the laboratory of ethnological problems, psychological laboratory, radiophysical laboratory and so on.
